Engaging High School Students
Posted by: admin
Delores Kannas, Hub Captain for the Alaska Junction Hub at Hope Lutheran Church, volunteered to lead a month long teaching series for students at Hope Lutheran High School. This was a class where the students selected the topic to participate in. She coached them through what risks we face in Seattle, how to be prepared, what to do during a disaster, especially earthquake, and how to respond afterwards. Guest speakers were invited in, covering Ham radio and the Seattle Hubs. Bringing preparedness education into our schools is being worked on by many, and FEMA is now offering materials for classrooms as well, here’s a link to their most recent card game for kids ages 8 – 12.
