Grow Beacon Hill Preparedness with BEAN
May 13 @ 9:30 AM - 12:00 PMFree
After a successful launch, BEAN is hosting the next step to inform our Beacon Hill neighbors about how to build neighborhood resiliency and emergency preparedness.
We’re building a communication and resource network, desperately needed on Beacon Hill, which will serve to help all residents in case of emergency. Join us and learn how you can start and grow a localized network (a Hub) for you and your neighbors.
Representatives from the Seattle Emergency Communication Hubs and local Hubs will be on hand to walk us through what it would be like to respond in a major disaster. We will practice some of the different volunteer assignments. There will be plenty of time to answer questions and get guidance on how to get started with making your home and your neighborhood more prepared for emergencies. If you can’t attend for the whole time, feel free to come at 11:00 and become a “citizen actor” for us.
This is your chance to sign up you and your neighbors, and to join our network. We will follow with more sessions providing information on how to organize individual neighborhood hubs, how to acquire resources, how to locate gathering places, and how to establish emergency communication systems (such as ham radio).
If you can’t make it but still want to learn more, contact Susan Sanders, email@example.com. Find more info on Seattle’s emergency hub program at http://seattleemergencyhubs.org/. Visit BEAN’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1252772754771091/.
