King County offers Faith Based
Emergency Preparedness Planning
As Hub Captains, we’ve been talking about how to engage our local churches, temples, and mosques in thinking about community sheltering needs in the event of a major disaster. This is for the short term, while the official government response is being put into place. One step on that path is to make sure the faith based organizations have thought about their own preparedness locations, for their facilities and their congregations. Here is an opportunity in March to help them take that first step:

Preparedness Planning:
The Standards for community and faith-based organizations, 3/23/16
The King County Emergency Planning Institute is offering training for community and faith-based organizations on preparedness planning. The class is designed and led by emergency management and outreach professionals with experience supporting local organizations in their preparedness efforts. They are designed to strengthen the organization’s ability to effectively respond when facing the unexpected. Participants will gain a better understanding of what makes an effective preparedness plan, and develop a road map for improving existing plans and procedures.
Key objectives
This 4 hour event will be focused on understanding the importance of promoting personal preparedness throughout your organization. Understanding the importance of an organizational continuity plan and the key elements of an effective plan. This event is also focused on Identifying gaps in existing emergency preparedness plans.
Who will benefit from this course?
This course is for staff tasked with writing plans or preparedness procedures for their organization and/or executive leadership with the ability to prioritize planning efforts and will be held on:
