National Night Out!
August 6
First Tuesday in August is “National Night Out” – a chance for neighbors to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Some groups share a meal; some chat over lemonade. Some groups discuss safety or preparedness issues pertinent to their neighborhood; some just catch up and welcome newcomers to the group.
Whatever your style, just make sure you meet your neighbors. There is no better predictor of how well a neighborhood will withstand a disaster than how well connected they were before it struck.
We are social creatures; we are better together.
