SUMMARY:GMRS Radio Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Learn how GMRS (General Mobile Radio System) communications can be used if communications are down.  First by your household – and then by your community (Emergency Communication Hubs).\nThe class will cover repeaters (extend the reach of your radio)\, radio etiquette\, and more. \nDuring class\, your radio will be programmed to match other GMRS radios involved in the Hub network.  That makes communication easier and you can listen in on important Ham radio communications post-disaster. \nAt the tail end of the class\, we will go outside and practice talking on the radio. \nALL are welcome!

SUMMARY:"I Am Safe" Welfare Messages Exercise
DESCRIPTION:Training and Tabletop Exercise – “I Am Safe” Welfare Messages using Winlink \nThe purpose of this low-key\, hands-on exercise is to send “I Am Safe” welfare messages.  It is a new paper to radio to “loved one” process that needs a final\, at scale test. \nWe need multiple radio operators to run a final  proof-of-concept exercise to pass “I Am Safe” Welfare messages using Winlink.   We will be passing message traffic locally and to the east coast. You will be given on-the-job  training to test if the processes are quickly executable in times of disaster. \n2 options for radio operators: \n\nBring your portable Winlink station with UHF/VHF capability. Elmers will be available for Winlink assist\, but this is not Winlink basic training.\n\nUse one of our 3 Winlink stations to pass traffic.\n\nAttendees will learn about the process and can also create messages to be sent\, no radio experience is for that. Everyone is welcome! \n \n
