DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 9th\, seven Hubs will activate their volunteers\, set up their Hub\, and simulate helping their neighbors.  Our practice scenario…  the entire city was shaken by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake along the Seattle Fault Line.  And the FIFA (soccer) games are starting in three days so Seattle is packed with tourists from all over the world. \nWe invite you to join us!  Plan to stop by any time between 1pm and 3pm.   \nParticipating locations can be found on the map HERE \nThere are many great reasons to stop by… \n\nLearn how the Hubs operate.\nFind your role in a disaster – community resilience is key.\nHelp by becoming an “actor” to read a script and giving us a problem to work.\nThis is our major field exercise for 2024!  Don’t miss it!

DESCRIPTION:Amateur radio\, also called ham radio\, is a licensed radio service that lets you communicate with other hams around the world\, even when other forms of communication are not working. Ham radio operators volunteer in their communities – and with governmental and non-governmental organizations – to help respond to disasters. It’s also a fantastic hobby\, with a variety of clubs and regular events and meetings to help new operators learn and practice. \nHam radio requires a license; this class will help you get yours. \nThis 2-day amateur radio licensing class is focused on helping you pass the exam to obtain your Federal Communication Commission (FCC) amateur radio license. License exams are held at the conclusion of the class on August 24th and we have an exceptional pass rate. \n\nTwo Saturdays: August 17th and August 24th\n9am to 5pm      \nMeadowbrook Community Center (10517 35th Ave NE\, Seattle\, 98125)\n\nCOST? \n\nThe course is $15 (for materials\, instructors are trained volunteers).\nThe exam is free.\nThe FCC charges $35 to issue amateur radio licenses (valid for 10 years).\n\n To register for the class\, please email Daniel Stevens (Training Coordinator) at KL7WM@aol.com. \n
