Cal Anderson Park Hub<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Our team looks to use the Seattle Emergency Communications Hub model to empower the central Capitol Hill neighborhood to care for themselves and each other in a disaster situation through preparedness and community.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The intention is to build a robust and long-lasting social infrastructure of neighbors, organizations and businesses anchored around a small amount of physical infrastructure to be centrally located at Cal Anderson Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

We do not yet have our hub box (working on it!), but operate out of the Cal Anderson Park Shelter House just north of the playfield. In the event of a disaster we will set up there unless it is unsafe to do so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Capitol Hill Hub<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Our mission is to cultivate North Capitol Hill’s emergency preparedness aligned with Seattle Emergency Hubs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our Hub activates in the Church parking lot at 13th Ave E and E Aloha<\/strong> to exchange information and to provide neighbors a place and process to match their skills and resources with other neighbors\u2019 needs. Our Hub uses two-way radio to get news from adjacent hubs and to support mutual aid inside North Capitol Hill and with adjacent hubs. Seattle Emergency Hubs network is independent of the City but coordinates with local and regional emergency services where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To help our neighborhood BEFORE a crisis, North Capitol Hill Hub provides periodic drills; preparedness materials for renters, homeowners, buildings, businesses, and organizations; and free trainings, including on stocking basic supplies like water and food which is each person\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Capitol Hill Hub is operated solely by neighborhood volunteers who plan for risk reduction and resilience. Everyone\u2019s welcome to join us to learn and practice together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
