West Seattle & South Park Hubs

West Seattle has been involved in emergency preparedness since 2006. We established our first 8 Emergency Communication Hubs in 2008 and have been growing ever since. Currently, there are 16 volunteer-run Hubs across West Seattle and South Park.  Scroll down to find your closest Hub and any special activities they have underway.  Contact information for each is included so you get involved.

West Seattle Summer Emergency Preparedness Extravaganza!  

Many ways for you to be better prepared for any emergency and learn how you can help in a disaster. 

Household Preparedness – two identical sessions

Be emergency-smart; learn the risks we face in West Seattle and practical tips to make sure your home and family are safe and prepared.

Hub 101 Volunteer Hub Training – two identical sessions

Learn how an “Emergency Hub” works so you can quickly jump in and support your neighbors post-disaster.  We’ll practice the basic roles and run thru “scripts” (situations we think our neighbors will come to the Hub with).  It’s great fun and interactive.  You’ll quickly grasp how everything works together and feel much more prepared to support your household – and your neighbors!

Field Exercise for all West Seattle Hubs

Our location will be at the Morgan Junction Park Hub, please invite all your hub-interested people to participate.  The practice scenario this year will be an earthquake “Quake, Rattle and Role”. 

Neighbors and Hub volunteers will be gathering in several places throughout Seattle to practice supporting ourselves post-disaster.  Large exercises are fun, informative, and inspiring.  Plan on joining in by volunteering to be a “community actor” where you will be given scripts to help the Hub practice.

Admiral

The Admiral Hub at Hiawatha Park is training with their new team. Contact the Hub Captain to get involved.

Alaska Junction – Hope Lutheran Church Hub

Hope Lutheran Church hosts the Hub for the Alaska Junction area.  They have participated in past exercises and look forward to gaining new members for their next practice session.  Contact information here

Alki

Located at the Whale Tail Park, the Alki Hub group is in the process of recruiting new members and a back up for the current Hub Captain.  Contact the Hub Network to learn more.

E.C. Hughes Playground

The E.C. Hughes Hub is looking for a new Hub Captain. Contact us for information about the responsibilities and time commitments of filling this important role for the neighborhood around the E.C. Hughes Playground.

There is a new Hub Captain for this Hub and he is actively seeking new members to learn and train alongside him.  Contact here for more information.

Fauntleroy

Located at the Fauntleroy Church, this Hub is in the process of rebuilding their entire team.  Plenty of opportunities here, email the Hub Captain here to learn more.

Located at Neighborhood House in the heart of the High Point community, this Hub is active with outreach events and practice drills.  To learn more, contact them here.

Highland Park North (HPIC Hub)

This Hub location is out of commission while the Highland Park Improvement Club facility is being rebuilt.  However, the team still practices with other West Seattle Hubs to keep their skills sharp.  Learn more by contacting them here

Highland Park South

This Hub is located at the Salvation Army, a natural gathering point for the south Highland Park area.  The current Hub Captain is having to step down, if you are interested in leading this location, contact the Hub Network here.

Morgan Junction

The Morgan Junction Hub, located in the Morgan Park, has been focused on establishing a response team for Gatewood Elementary School for the past two years and is now ready to do more practice of the Hub and that team.  Contact the Hub Captain here to learn how to get involved.

The Mount (Providence-St Vincent)

This Hub serves the area around the Mount and the Triangle and is looking for new members.  Contact the Hub Captain at this link.

North Delridge P-Patch

Co-located with the P-Patch, this Hub draws members from both the nearby community and the P-Patch gardeners.  Their contact information is here

Peace Lutheran Church -Upper Gatewood

Co-sponsored by the Peace Lutheran Church, this Hub has a new Hub Captain and is looking forward to learning about the Hub and meeting people who want to help at this location.  Contact information here.

Pigeon Point

Community building is at the heart of the Pigeon Point Hub, which will gather at the northwest corner of the Pathfinder school field.  Join this Hub to engage in their fine work by contacting them here.
